WORCESTER: Alan P. McPherson, 62, of 3 Bates Ave. , died peacefully on Friday, May 17, 2013 at UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of almost 42 years, Donna G. (Healy) McPherson; a son, Jamie A. McPherson; a daughter, Shelly G. Wilhelmi and her husband Rob; his mother, Maxine J. (Ayotte) McPherson, all of Worcester; three brothers, Dale G. McPherson and his wife Robin Cronin of Worcester, Peter W. McPherson and his wife Linda of Ranger, GA, David B. McPherson and his wife Kim of Rutland; five grandchildren; Kayla M. , Georgia Ann and Ashley L. McPherson, Kyle M. and Madison E. Wilhelmi; and several nieces and nephews. He was born in Presque Isle, Maine, son of the late Walter P. McPherson and lived in Worcester most of his life. He graduated from Burncoat Senior High School in 1969. A son, Scott S. McPherson, died unexpectedly on March 31, 2006. Alan was a self-employed painting contractor for many years. He previously worked in the Abrasives Division at Norton Company for 15 years. He loved reading, crossword puzzles, trivia games, fishing, watching or listening to the news and spending time with family and friends. He was also an avid fan of both the Patriots and the Red Sox. Those who knew him best referred to him by his nickname âWeaselâ. There are no calling hours. After cremation, a burial service will be held at a later date in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
