WORCESTER - Alice (Simpson) Degnan, born on February 26th, 1941 in Clinton MA, passed peacefully at her home in Leicester on Tuesday, May 14, 2024 with her family by her side. She had been battling cancer and other health complications since 2018.
She leaves behind her daughter Kimberly Ann Duszak; her three sons, David Duszak, Micheal Thorne and his wife Maggie; and Duane Duszak and his wife Kathleen. Her greatest loves were her grandchildren, Kasie Bush and her husband Jeremiah Bush (Nana's personal chef), Emily, Hannah, and Cameron Duszak, along with Katie, Sarah, and Amanda Thorne; and her greatgrandchildren, Jenna, Jeremiah, Jason, and Annabelle Bush.
Alice grew up on Green Street in Worcester, making her super proud to have Polar Park built right behind her old neighborhood. She spent her adult years living throughout central Massachusetts. She worked in the medical field for several decades between Holden Hospital and UMass Memorial Hospital.
She enjoyed traveling, taking trips with her family, and annual trips to Cape Cod and Maine with close friends. She had a great sense of humor, even enjoying a few laughs in her final moments with her best friend Julie.
Alice loved theater, square dancing, bowling, reading, puzzles, and her loyal pooch Bruin who never left her side. What made Alice the most happy though was being with her family. Every event, special occasion, holiday or sporting event, there was Nana, wearing her Hype gear front and center. Her children and her grandchildren were her life and she loved them fiercely.
A sounding board, a voice of wisdom and always the truth. A cheerleader and a straight shooter, she left a lasting impression. You always knew where you stood with Nana and her loyalty was unwavering. She will be missed tremendously.
Alice is predeceased by her siblings, William, Earnest, Kathryn, Mary, Thomas, and Harry. Alice was born in Clinton, MA to Harry and Margaret (Nicholson) Simpson.
A Memorial Service will be held at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm on Tuesday, May 28th.
