WORCESTER: Barbara E. (Mertin) Melvin, 81, of 275 Pleasant St. , formerly of Plum St. , died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at St. Vincent Hospital, after a brief illness. She leaves 2 sons, Dennis W. Melvin and his wife Gail of Leicester, Steven A. Melvin of Worcester; 2 daughters, Diane E. Deneault and her husband Richard of Worcester, Kathleen P. Capece and her husband Leo of West Bridgewater; a brother, William L. Fassett and his wife Ruth of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Jeanne Fassett of Worcester; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, Robert L. Melvin, William M. Melvin, and her former husband, Richard L. Melvin, all predeceased her. Barbara was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Louis J. and Blanche (Stover) Mertin Fassett, and was a graduate of St. Peterâs High School. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel/St. Ann Parish and spent most of her time raising her family. CALLING HOURS will be from 5 to 8 P.
