WORCESTER: Bertha B. (Brown) Bitting, 87, a resident of University Commons, formerly of Niagara Falls, New York, died Friday, February 23, 2007, in UMass Memorial Healthcare- Memorial Campus, after a long illness. Her husband of 53 years, Sylvester Bitting, died July 5, 2003. She leaves a stepson, Sylvester Bitting, Jr. of Middleton, Penn. ; two sisters, Calley Durley of Gastonia, Okla. , Winnie Woodson of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews including her niece, Karen E. Dunyo, with whom she lived when she first moved to Worcester. Two brothers, Mack Brown, Bill Brown, and three sisters, Pearl Skeeters, Viola Adams and Thelma Thomas, all predeceased her. She was born in Toccoa, Georgia, daughter of the late Mack and Mamie (Webb) Brown. She lived in Niagara Falls most of her life until moving to Worcester in 2004. She was a graduate of Niagara St. School and was a long time active member of New Hope Baptist Church in Niagara Falls. Bertha was a supervisor at Nabisco, Inc. in Niagara Falls where she worked for over 35 years until she retired. CALLING HOURS will be from 6 to 9 p. m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. Funeral services and burial will take place in Niagara Falls at a later date.
