WORCESTER: Beverley A. (Tolson) Smith, 75, died at home on Sunday, April 15, 2018, after a long illness. She leaves five children, Yvette M. Tolson of Worcester, Valerie A. Hues of North Carolina, Erika Hues of Boston, Tony Hues of New York City, Zeline Y. Hues and her husband Samuel A. Afutu of Worcester; two brothers, Joseph L. Tolson and his wife Susan of New York, David T. Tolson of Massachusetts; three sisters, Jennie M. White and her husband Bishop Woodrow White of Kennnesaw, Georgia, Gertrude M. Turner of Worcester, Joyce T. Tolson of Worcester; 20 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her life time friend, Anne Assencoa. Three brothers, Robert B. , Walter L. and Frank W. Tolson; a sister, Shirley A. Marsh; a daughter, Danelle R. Hues; and a granddaughter, Crystal D. Carpenter, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Robert B. and Gertrude M. (Mitchell) Tolson. She graduated from Commerce High School and Becker College and lived here all of her life. Beverley worked as a kitchen manager at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. She had also worked as a human resources assistant at the Grafton Jobs Corps. She was a former member of St. Andrewâs United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading and arts and crafts. CALLING HOURS will be held from 10 A. M. to 12 NOON on SATURDAY, APRIL 21 in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , immediately followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 12 NOON in the funeral home.
