It is with profound sadness and the heaviest hearts to announce that on October 24, 2022, our beloved Brenda Casey passed away peacefully at the Umass Memorial Medical Center University Campus in Worcester, with her daughters by her side. There are not enough words that can possibly describe this sweet, loving, faithful, gracious, compassionate, selfless, and amazing woman. Brenda was born on September 30, 1947, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada to the late Stafford and Helen (Dalli) Harrison. At the age of 18, she began working at Sun Life of Canada in Montreal and transferred to Sun Life’s US Headquarters in Wellesley, MA in 1973. Making her way through the ranks to a Sr. Banking Analyst, she would go on to work at Sun Life for almost 35 years. Brenda also worked as an Executive Assistant and Group Operations Manager at IDC in Framingham, MA for 12 years. Brenda was highly respected by her co-workers and was known for her incredible work ethic, contagious smile, and quick-witted humor. Brenda is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Casey, of Marlborough, her beloved daughters; Rebecca Margolis of Wayland, Rachel Casey of Marlborough, and their significant others that she loved as her own sons, Jack Margolis of Wayland, Jason Wheeler of Uxbridge, and Michael Brangiforte of Hudson. In addition, Brenda lived every day for her cherished grandchildren Jaxon Cash and Ozzie Harrison Roy Margolis of Wayland. They were the light and loves of her life. Brenda is also survived by her dear sister and best friend, Judith Johnson, her sister-in-law, Janet Harrison, her brother-in-law Pat (Linda) Patwell (all of Winnipeg, Manitoba, CA), brother and sister-in-law, Robert Casey and Marcia Heffernan of Atkinson, NH, and her cherished nieces and nephews: Hillary, Melanie (Yanik), Roberta, Alicia, Craig (Tracey), Christopher (Alison), PJ (Michelle), Patrick (Nicole), Michael (Debbie), and their families, along with many dear friends. In addition to her parents, Brenda was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Linda and Kenneth Johnston, her brother Robert “Bobby” Harrison, her brother-in-law Kenneth Johnson (all of Winnipeg, MB), her Aunt Margret and daughter Darlene Nichols, her great-aunt, Gloria Dalli, her mother and father-in-law, Robert and Eva Casey, and her great-niece, Lyla May Heffernan. Brenda was a free-spirited, adventurous person who loved going on adventures with her family. She loved going on trips to Canada, Texas, and Hampton Beach, and enjoyed many trips to Foxwoods, which she lovingly referred to as “The Emerald City”. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, attending their school functions, football games, and caring for them after school. Every day at 2 PM Brenda loved watching her favorite soap opera, General Hospital, which her family knew not to interrupt her during this time. “There are some who bring a light so great to the world that even after they have gone the light remains”. Brenda has been the light of her family's lives, and now she will forever be our brightest star in the sky. Brenda was an extremely gracious person and always made it a point to thank every single person who worked at Umass Memorial Medical Center. Brenda’s family wishes to especially thank the entire staff for taking amazing care of her. “Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest commitment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around”. Our beloved Brenda personified these qualities. While our family genuinely appreciates the love, support, and words of remembrance of all those who had the honor of knowing Brenda, we will celebrate her life privately at a later date. To honor Brenda, her family asks that everyone take a minute every day to offer someone a kind word, a smile, and a small act of caring.
