SHREWSBURY - Dr. Cortlandt Yolanda Franklin Davis was born November 29, 1984, in Jackson, MS, to Cynthia A. Carpenter and the late Michael Franklin. On Saturday, July 6, 2024, Cortlandt transitioned from this earthly life surrounded by family at her home in Shrewsbury, MA.
Cortlandt, who grew up in Jackson, MS, was a loving mother, wife, daughter, niece, cousin and friend who was cherished by all connected to her. At an early age, she became a member of Tabernacle of Praise Church, and later joined Anderson United Methodist Church, both in Jackson.
Cortlandt attended Jackson Public Schools and graduated from Murrah High School. She pursued her dream of caring for others through the medical profession. She graduated from Xavier University in New Orleans, LA., where she studied Biology/Pre-Med. She completed her medical studies at Temple University Medical School of Podiatry, in Philadelphia, PA.
She began her professional career at the Foot Clinic in Columbia, S.C.
While in Columbia, she met Ronald Craig Davis Jr., who would become her loving and devoted husband. They moved to Douglasville, GA, where Cortlandt established a private practice. They have two daughters, Harper Sage Davis and Harlow Chance Davis. The family moved to Shrewsbury where Cortlandt continued work with Health Drive Mobile Podiatrist.
Cortlandt always had a curiosity about the world and loved to travel, having journeyed across the United States and faraway places such as Paris, London, Italy, Belgium, Bali and Iceland. She also loved movies and reading books and following her favorite sports team, the New Orleans Saints. But above all, she loved her girls!
Cortandt was preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Nellie V. Hart Carpenter of Jackson.
In addition to her husband Ronald and daughters Harper and Harlow, Cortlandt is survived by her mother Cynthia A. Carpenter and aunt Ginger Carpenter of Jackson; uncle Eddie L. Jones, and cousins Stephanie R. Jones and Earnest (Alice) Hart, all of Jackson; stepdaughter Mecha’la Queary and stepsons Eriq Davis and Kamrawn (Janice) Davis, all of Magnolia, Ark., fraternal grandmother Walterine Franklin of Tougaloo, MS; half-sister, Tommisine Minor of Tougaloo; maternal aunt Beverly Morris, of Hattiesburg, MS.; uncles Gerald (Carrie) Carpenter, of Beaumont, MS, and Louis (Ann) Carpenter, of Snellville, GA; fraternal aunts Nicole Franklin Branch and Winifred Franklin, of Jackson; uncle Melvin Goodman of Tougaloo; and a host of others family members and friends.
A calling hour will take place at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester, on Thursday July 11th from 10:00am to 11:00am. A funeral service will follow at 11am.
