WORCESTER: Deane Bailey, 79, of 81 Chatham St. , formerly of Pittsfield and Amesbury, died on Thursday, March 3, 2011, after a long illness. He leaves his sister, Barbara Randall of Amesbury; his sister-in-law, Catherine Bailey of Huntsville, AL; and several nieces and nephews. His brothers, Alan and Howard Bailey, both predeceased him. He was born and raised in Amesbury, son of the late Chester and Grace (Rogers) Bailey. He graduated from Amesbury High School and was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War. Deane worked as a surveyor with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Works for many years until he retired. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester and enjoyed painting and drawing. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 3 P. M. on SUNDAY, MARCH 13 at UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH of Worcester, 90 Holden St. There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
