WORCESTER: Donald R. Spellman, 77, died Friday, November 16, 2007, in UMass Memorial Medical Center- Memorial Campus, after an illness. His wife of 31 years, Margaret A. "Peg" (Wood) Spellman, died April 13, 1993. He leaves his son, David P. Spellman and his wife Maura of Natick; a brother, Kenneth Spellman and his wife Jane of Ipswich; his granddaughter, Sarah M. Spellman of Natick, and several close cousins. He also leaves three stepbrothers, Robert, Kenneth and Lee Spratt. Another stepbrother, Paul Spratt, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Raymond G. Spellman and Frances M. (Crandall) Spratt. He was a graduate of North High School in Worcester and DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. Don was Assistant Assessor for the City of Worcester. He worked for the city for more than 43 years having begun his career as a cartographer. He was a member of Belmont St. Baptist Church, an avid Red Sox fan, and a volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America. CALLING HOURS will be held from 2 to 5 p. m. on Sunday, Nov. 18, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held at 10 a. m. on Monday, Nov. 19, in the funeral home, followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery.
