Dorena Henderson

Dorena Henderson, 71, of Oxford, passed away on December 7, 2022 at home surrounded by her family. Dorena was born and raised in South Carolina before moving to Massachusetts where she lived the rest of her life. Dorena worked for many years at UMass Hospital until she retired. She enjoyed helping her family and friends in any way she could. Her biggest joy were her grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was bingo, playing card games, and cooking big meals for her family. Dorena leaves a daughter, Yvonne Henderson; two sons, Frank Henderson and Kendrick Henderson. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren: Jarrell Smith, Robert Henderson, Dante Henderson, Shaheem Henderson, Marissa Henderson, Hope Henderson, and Shalise Reyes; several nieces and nephews: Ethel Gasque, John Coates, Melissa Coates, Eugene Coates, Bennie Coates, Meisha Coates, Andrew Farquharson, Phillip Farquharson, Ralph Carr, Anna Carr, Daniel Carr, Marcus Carr, Stefany Carr, TJ Carr, James Carr, Joseph Carr, and Derek Allen; five great grandchildren; her brother, Ronald Henderson; her aunts, Louise Tolbert and Lucille Hancock of Greenville, South Carolina; great-nephews and nieces; many cousins in South Carolina; and a best friend of 35 years, Vanessa “Susie” Johnson. Dorena was predeceased by her parents, Johnny B. Williams and Emma-Lou Tolbert Henderson; her sister, Patricia Ann Coates; and a son, Anthony J. Henderson. Calling hours will be held from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 13th at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care with a funeral service to follow. Burial will take place at Hope Cemetery following the funeral service.
