DOUGLAS - Our dear mother, Dorothy McCaffrey Palmer entered God’s kingdom on July 17, 2023. She was 92 years young. Dorothy was born in Boston. She graduated from Jamaica Plain High School. She attended Simmons College, Boston. She was a professionally trained vocalist and sang in various venues. She later worked for New England Telephone in Boston for many years. She leaves her pre- deceased husbands Joseph McCaffrey and Anthony Palmer. Dorothy and Anthony traveled extensively in Europe and the U. S. A. They enjoyed an active retirement in Florida. In her later years, she joined her family in Worcester, MA where she was the center of her family’s life. Dorothy was a dedicated mother and Nana first and foremost, never missing a loved one’s birthday, a holiday together, or to celebrate a family event. She enjoyed music, dance, fashion, and design. She was a generous and caring woman. After a long and active life, she passed at her daughter’s home in Douglas, MA. The family expresses their gratitude to the VNA of Worcester, particularly her Nurse Manager, Paulette. Dorothy leaves her pre-deceased parents, two daughters: Gail (McCaffrey) Fahey and Cheryl (McCaffrey) Hogan. Five grandchildren: Patrick Fahey, Colleen Corey and her husband Roger, Ian Hogan, Noelle (Hogan) Graham and her husband Corey, and Grace (Hogan) Swedberg and her husband Eric. Eight great-grandchildren: Michaela Fahey, Caitlin and Luke Graham, Isaac, Ella, and Lily Swedberg, and Jameson and Callie Corey. A private celebration of Dorothy’s life will be celebrated with her family. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a random act of kindness for someone.
