WORCESTER: Earle F. Foley, 91, of 140 Heywood St. , died Tuesday, January 10, 2006, in Holy Trinity Eastern Orthodox Nursing Home, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Stella V. (Koza) Foley; a son, Robert F. Foley and his wife Kathleen of Mansfield; a sister, Dorothy M. Devlin of Worcester; and a grand-daughter, Kelly Ann Foley of Maryland. Two sisters, Gertrude H. Donoghue and Florence T. Cronholm, both predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Daniel F. and Nellie A. (O'Donoghue) Foley and graduated from North High School. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers during both World War II and the Korean War. He participated in the Normandy invasion and received five battle stars and a Bronze Star for gallantry. He retired as a major after 24 years of active and reserve service. Earle was a deputy chief with the Worcester Police Department where he worked for 30 years until retiring in 1979. He served for a short time with the Worcester Fire Department before he became a policeman in May of 1950. He also taught police science at Assumption College and at Quinsigamond College. He was a member of St. Stephen's Church, a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, and was a passionate golfer. A CALLING HOUR will be held from 9:15 to 10:15 a. m. on Friday, Jan. 13, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , followed by A FUNERAL MASS at 11 a. m. in ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH, 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Earle be made to the Salvation Army, 630 Main St. , Worcester, MA 01608.
