WORCESTER: Eleanor C. (Ryan) Hurley, 96, formerly of Thorndyke Rd. , died Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at St. Joseph's Manor Nursing Home, Brockton, Ma. Her husband of 44 years, John F. Hurley, died in 1988. A son, John P. Hurley of Pembroke, died in 2004, and her sister Mary E. Ryan, died in 1996. She leaves a son Paul M. Hurley of Las Vegas; a daughter, Anne R. Hurley of Castle Rock, Col. ; her daughter-in-law, Patricia (O'Donnell) Hurley of Pembroke; and many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick and Margaret "Annie" (Salmon) Ryan. She was a graduate of Worcester Normal School and earned a masters degree in English from Boston University. Eleanor was a teacher for the Worcester Public School System for many years, until she retired in 1976. She was a former member of St. Bernard's Church and also a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church where she taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Boston University Women's Club and the Massachusetts Retired Teachers Association. CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 7 on Friday, June 8, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. . A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 a. m. on Saturday, June 9, in St. BERNARD'S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln St. , followed by burial in St. John's Cemetery.
