WORCESTER: Elizabeth F. "Betty" (Ryan) Carey, 77, formerly of 40 Perkins St. , died Tuesday, July 4, 2006, in Radius Healthcare Center, 119 Providence St. , after a brief illness. Her husband, Charles E. Carey, died in 1983. She leaves three sons, Charles E. Carey, Jr. and his wife Jean of Bellingham, Gary F. Carey of Millbury, John B. Carey and his wife Andrea of Millbury; a daughter, Jean M. Boonstoppel and her husband John of Oxford; four sisters, Marian Adamski of Auburn, Teresa Ryan of Millbury, Eleanor Ryan of New York City and Bernadine Petty of Worcester; five grandchildren, Kate and Kristopher Boonstoppel, Jake and Sean Carey and Jessica Besterfield; nieces and nephews. A brother, Daniel Ryan, and a sister, Jean Ryan, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick F. and Mary E. (Desmond) Ryan, and lived here all her life. Betty worked as a foster mother providing a home for teenage girls and boys for over 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church where she served as a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years.
