Elizabeth M. "Bette" Dunn

AUBURN – Elizabeth M. “Bette” Donohue Dunn, 96, of Auburn, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. She leaves a daughter, Patricia Otterson, and her husband, Ronald of Auburn; two sons, Steven M. Dunn of Sutton, and Jay Dunn and his wife, Karyn of Dudley; eight grandchildren; Eric Otterson of Auburn, Pamela O’Connor and her husband, Daniel of New Canaan, CT; Michael S. Dunn and his fiancé, Jessica Metcalf of Oxford; Elizabeth “Lyz” Dunn of Dudley, Kyle Dunn of Dudley, Nolan Dunn and his wife, Amanda of Holland, Trevor Dunn of Dudley, and Gehrig Dunn and his partner Fabiana Louis-Autumn-Letang of Milwaukee; three great-granddaughters; BraeLyn and Kellsey Dunn, and Avery Montigny; and one great-grandson; John O’Connor; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Helen Twiss, and her husband, David of Worcester.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, John J. Dunn, Jr.; a brother Francis Donohue, and his wife, Amy of California; a sister, Rita Whalen and her husband, William “Buddy” of Worcester; sisters-in-law, Ann Perry, and Mary Bristol and her husband, Lanny of Worcester; and a brother-in-law Francis Dunn, and his wife, Lou of Worcester.

Bette was born and raised in Auburn and Worcester and attended Auburn public schools. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1946. She worked for many years in the insurance business at State Mutual, the Elmer Harrison Agency, the Protector Group, and Hanover. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Church in Worcester and North American Martyr’s Church in Auburn.

Bette loved her vacations at Hampton Beach. She also traveled to Florida for 3 months for a few years. She also thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Ireland. She will miss all her special friends that helped take care of her. She will also miss all her friends at Kateri Way.

Our family would also like to thank all the doctors and health care workers who helped take care of our mother.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Bette’s family from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 22nd, at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, October 23rd, at St. Bernard’s Church, 236 Lincoln St., Worcester, followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Special Olympics at https://support.specialolympics.org/a/massachusetts  or the American Cancer Society at https://donate.cancer.org/.
