WORCESTER: Ellen H. (Kelly) Shea, 76, of 3 Gunnarson Rd. , died Thursday, January 1, 2009, at Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a brief illness. She leaves a daughter, Noreen A. Mina and her husband Paul of Brookfield; two sons, David V. Shea, Jr. and his wife Paula of Worcester, Mark J. Shea and his wife Linda of Greenfield; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Frank Kelly, Paul Kelly, and her sister, Marie OâNeil, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Laurence P. and Helen T. (Scanlon) Kelly, and was a 1950 graduate of Commerce High School. Ellen was an operations and finance officer for the Worcester County Sheriffâs Department, where she worked for 25 years having achieved the rank of Captain. She retired in 2007. She was a member of St. Johnâs Church, a founding member of the New Beginnings Program of the parish, a long time poll worker for the City of Worcester, and a member of the International Brotherhood of Corrections Officers. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her friends. There are no calling hours. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A. M. on TUESDAY, Jan. 6, in ST. JOHNâS CHURCH, 40 Temple St. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
