WORCESTER: Ernest A. Desroches, 91, formerly of Wayside Road, died peacefully on Friday, December 21, 2012 at Life Care Center of Auburn. He leaves his wife of 33 years, Eileen M. (Foster) Korpinen Desroches; his children, Beverly Tello of Worcester, Robert E. Desroches and his wife Annmarie of Spencer, Katherine A. Ernst and her husband William, Paul N. Korpinen and his wife Marjorie, all of Worcester; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. His brother, Frederick Bouffard and his sister, Florence Duquette, predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Alfred and Exelia M. (Landry) Desroches. His step-father, the late Francis X. Bouffard, raised him since he was 2 years old. He graduated from Commerce High School and was a Marine Corps Veteran of World War II having participated in the action on Iwo Jima. He received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Ernie worked as a mail carrier for 36 years with the U. S. Postal Service until he retired in 1980. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers AFL-CIO Branch 12, the American Legion East Side Post No. 201, and a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans. A CALLING HOUR will be held from 10 to 11 A. M. on WEDNESDAY, DEC. 26 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , immediately followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 11 A. M. in the funeral home. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Johnâs Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Ernie be made to Veterans, Inc. , 69 Grove St. , Worcester, MA 01605.
