WORCESTER: George A. Bergan, 91, of 41 Arbutus Rd. , died Wednesday, December 24, 2008, at UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus. His wife of 58 years, Dorothy E. (Manfield) Bergan, died July 12, 2002. He leaves a son, John W. Bergan and his wife Patricia of Shrewsbury; a daughter, Jean C. Vangel and her husband John of Sterling; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Two sisters and a brother predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late George W. and Edith (Sizer) Bergan, and graduated from Worcester Boys Trade High School. George was a machine adjuster at U. S. Envelope in Worcester for 40 years. He then worked for several years at New England Envelope, retiring in 1980. He was a long time member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and a life time member and former officer of the Frohsinn Club. He enjoyed betting on the stock market and horse racing.
