Geraldine Bowditch

September 3, 1949 — June 11, 2022

NORTH GRAFTON - Geraldine Bowditch, 72, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on June 11, 2022. She courageously battled cancer (twice), fought hard, maintained her grace, and is now at peace. Geraldine (Geri) was born in Southport, Lancashire, England on September 3, 1949 and was the daughter of the late James Hiscock and Gwyneth Friday. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 52 years, William Eric Bowditch; three children, Adam (Ann Marie) Bowditch, Alex (Melanie) Bowditch, and Ashleigh (John) Breton—along with grandson, Jameson, whom she absolutely adored. Additionally, Geraldine leaves behind one brother, Colin, and three sisters, Doreen, Roslyn, and Maureen, who live in England. Geri’s spirit of fun, warmth, creativity, and sociability will live on in the hearts and memories of family and friends. She enjoyed knitting—particularly baby clothes and “magic blankets” to bring comfort to her loved ones. She especially delighted in spreading cheer at Halloween (dressed as a witch) and Christmastime (calling herself “The Christmas Fairy”). Even as Geri battled cancer this past Christmas, she brought a tin of sweets to the hospital to give to other patients and it was very important to her to make it a special time of year for all whom she encountered. Geraldine served as a military nurse with the Queen Alexandra's Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC) starting in 1968. Following her wedding on October 4, 1969, Geri transitioned to nursing full time with the National Health Service in England until she and her family immigrated to the USA in September 1986—spending 11 years in the Philadelphia area, three years in Dallas, Texas, and finally, 22 years in Worcester County, MA. Geraldine was a proud member of Connect Church in Ashland, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Geri’s family from 9:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, June 20th, at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care located at 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A celebration of life will follow at 11:00 am.
