WORCESTER: Gertrude M. (O'Connor) West, 78, of 5 Montague St. , died Sunday, October 21, 2007, in St. Vincent Hospital, after an illness. Her husband, Felix G. West, died in 1984. She leaves two sons, Jay F. West, Guy A. West; a daughter, Deborah A. Harmon, all of Worcester; 3 brothers, James O'Connor and his wife Grace; George O'Connor and his wife Barbara, all of Worcester, Francis O'Connor and his wife Chris of Sutton; 2 sisters, Dorothy Drake and June Lavin, both of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, Vanessa Harmon and Joshua Harmon, both of Worcester, and Kaitlyn West of Dudley. A son, Felix G. West, Jr. , a brother, Edward P. O'Connor, and a sister, Mildred Beckwith, all predeceased her. Gert was born in Worcester, daughter of the late George and Rose (Cotton) O'Connor. She was a former member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and lived here all her life. She enjoyed church bazaars, flea markets and yard sales. A private funeral service was held in Kelly Funeral Home, 154 Lincoln St. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA. There were no calling hours. The family suggests donations in memory of Gert be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St. , Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
