Gertrude T. (O'Connor) O'Connor

WORCESTER: Gertrude T. (OâConnor) OâConnor, 91, died on Friday, September 13, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 49 years, Thomas V. OâConnor, died February 1, 2001. She leaves five children, Mary Ellen Mountain and her husband Michael of Brewster, Timothy J. OâConnor and his girlfriend Signe Kropp, both of Worcester, Patty OâConnor of Holden, Peggy OâConnor of Boston, Maureen Brackett and her husband Eddie of Worcester; six grandchildren, Connor, Jack, Tom, Nick, Brandon and Eddie; and many nieces, nephews. She also leaves her lifelong friend, Rita Foley. Three sisters, Mary A. Garvey, Eileen A. OâDay and Rita E. Cawley, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Timothy J. and Margaret A. (OâBrien) OâConnor and was a graduate of Classical High School and the former Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. Gert was a registered nurse for many years. She worked in the Accident Ward at the former Worcester City Hospital and later did private duty nursing until she retired. She was a member of Christ the King Church, the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association and the former Worcester Professional Registry of Nurses. She enjoyed music, visiting her summer home on Cape Cod and spending time with her âlovable and attractiveâ family. Gert had a talent for finding the good in all people and will be remembered for her great faith, generosity, sense of fun and love of life. CALLING HOURS will be held from 4 to 7 P. M. on MONDAY, SEPT. 16 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A. M. on TUESDAY, SEPT. 17 at CHRIST THE KING CHURCH, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will follow at St. Johnâs Cemetery.
