LEOMINSTER - Giovanni “John” Ciccone, a beloved longtime resident of Leominster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on August 2, 2023, at the age of 89. Born in 1933, in Abruzzo, Italy; he immigrated to the United States in 1955 in search of the American Dream and laying down roots for generations to come. Giovanni was a dedicated husband to his loving wife Diana Ciccone, with whom he shared a loving and fulfilling marriage for 46 years. They enjoyed dancing together at every chance possible and many admired their enduring love story. Giovanni was blessed with five children, whom he loved dearly: Domenic Ciccone and his wife, Carol; John (Chico) Ciccone, and his wife, Robin; Daniel Ciccone; Loredana (Ciccone) Ragone and her husband, Luigi; and Luca Ciccone and his wife, Kiera. He was predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Loreta Ciccone; sisters Maria (Ciccone) DiBattista, of Leominster; Ida (Ciccone) Buzzelli of Canada; Elena (Ciccone) Ippoliti of Italy; Nina Ciccone of Italy; and survived by his brother, Noe Ciccone, of Italy along with nephews and nieces. Giovanni's love for his family extended to his seven grandchildren – affectionately “Nonno” - who brought immense joy to his life. Their presence and accomplishments always brought a smile upon his face, and he cherished the moments spent with each of them: Leandra, Tasha, Lorenzo and his wife, Victoria, Geneva, Caterina and her husband, Collin, Alessandro and his fiancé, Kaylynn, and Lola. Giovanni was an exceptionally hardworking and skilled man who dedicated many years to his profession as a “jack of all trades” as a self-employed contractor and local business owner. Giovanni had an incredible work ethic and was known for his attention to detail, commitment, and professionalism. His determination and drive were truly admirable, and he took great satisfaction in the many successful projects he completed throughout his career – including many structures and buildings in Leominster that stand to this day, including the gazebo at Carter Park in Leominster, where many enjoy concerts to this day. Aside from his professional endeavors, Giovanni had a great passion for gardening, especially tending to his fig and peach trees, carpentry, researching world history, working around the house, studying religion, reading books, and living a healthy and active lifestyle (but always enjoyed Chinese buffet). He actively participated in the Jehovah's Witnesses organization, where he could be found speaking to and teaching those who wanted to learn more. Giovanni's generous, passionate, and outgoing nature had a lasting and unforgettable impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing him. You would never be able to miss the well-dressed Giovanni walking around in his fedora hat while holding his iPad close. Giovanni Ciccone will forever be remembered for his extraordinary love for his family, his unwavering dedication to his work, and his selfless service to God. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of his loved ones. At Giovanni’s request, no funeral services are planned. A celebration of life memorial will be planned for a later date by the family and loved ones will be notified. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care of Worcester.
