AUBURN: Augustine F. âGusâ Burke, III, 65, died on Saturday, August 4, 2018 surrounded by his family at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, after a brief illness He leaves wife and best friend, Susan D. (Pepin) Burke; 3 sons, Kevin J. Burke of Auburn, Myles A. Burke and his wife Shannon of Savannah, GA, Christopher J. Burke of Savannah, GA; a brother Michael P. Burke and his wife Amelia of Worcester; three sisters, Ruth E. Langlais and her husband Mark Hutchison of Brooklyn, CT. , Ann M. Bouley and her husband Michael of Williamsburg, VA, Mary B. Paulsen and her husband Robert of Rutland; an aunt, Margaret âPegâ Hickey of Auburn; a grandson, Caleb; 8 nieces and nephews, Annie, Vicky, Stephanie, Sara, Nicole, Emily, Patrick and Bobby; 3 grandnieces, Faye, Mary and Mya; a grandnephew, Ryan; his goddaughter, Maureen Looney; and many cousins. His brother, John W. Burke, died last year. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Augustine F. "Gus" Burke, Jr. and Ruth A. (Tamulis) Burke. He was a graduate of Auburn High School, attended Quinsigamond Community College, and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Gus was a property manager at the Worcester County House of Correction where he worked for many years until he retired. He previously worked many years at David Clark Company. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Order of the Moose, the American Legion, and the Worcester County Reserve Deputy Sheriffâs Association. He was an active outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing, playing tennis and was a die-hard Red Sox and Patriots fan. He will be remembered as a good man with a unique sense of humor, an inspirational work ethic, humble nature, and love of his family. CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 7 p. m. on FRIDAY, AUG. 10, at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 a. m. on SATURDAY, AUG. 11 at ST. ANDREW THE APOSTLE CHURCH, 5 Spaulding Street, Worcester. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family, in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. The family suggests donations in memory of Gus be made to the Worcester Hibernian Cultural Foundation, 19 Temple Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
