WORCESTER: Harold V. Ryan, 93, of Briarwood Circle, formerly of Kenmore St. , died Friday, August 20, 2010 at Knollwood Nursing Center, after a brief illness. He leaves a sister, Mary T. Dadah of Jefferson; several nieces and nephews, Mary (Archambeault) Abair of Shrewsbury, Robert Archambeault of Worcester, Patricia (Dadah) Toney of Cherry Valley, Donna (Dadah) Gardner of Spencer, Albert Dadah of Jefferson, James Ryan of Morristown, NJ, Rev. Laurence D. Ryan, S. J. of Fairfield, CT, Maureen (Ryan) Doyle of Jefferson, Terrence Ryan of Palm Coast, FL; many grandnephews, grandnieces, great grandnieces and a great grandnephew. Four brothers, Thomas J. Ryan, Jr. , Michael J. Ryan, John J. Ryan, Robert R. Ryan, and a sister, Margaret G. Archambeault, a niece, Linda (Ryan) Lingenfelter, and 2 grandnephews, Jack and Steven Toney, all predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Thomas F. Ryan, Sr. and Hannah A. (Ryan) Ryan. He graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester Junior College and attended Northeastern University. Harry was a maintenance supervisor at Morgan Construction where he worked for many years until he retired. He previously worked at St. Peterâs Church and at Pullman Standard. He was a founding member of St. Christopherâs Church and a member of itsâ Menâs Club and the Legion of Mary. He loved to play golf all his life. When he was young, he and his brothers caddied at Worcester Country Club and Wachusett Country Club. One of his favorite past times was driving his car. He enjoyed seeing the countryside and the seaside and knew all the roads of New England. His family, especially his nieces and nephews, were his life. We were all blessed by his wonderful presence in our lives. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Memorial Hospital, second floor, and the staff at Knollwood Nursing Center for their kindness and support, as well as Dr. Driscoll for his compassionate care. For the last few years, Harry so enjoyed living at Briarwood. The family would like to again thank the staff for their wonderful care and friendship. They made his last few years so pleasant. A CALLING HOUR will be held from 9:15 A. M. to 10:15 A. M. on WEDNESDAY, Aug. 25, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , immediately followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 11 A. M. in ST. CHRISTOPHERâS CHURCH, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will follow in St. Johnâs Cemetery. The family suggests donations in memory of Harry be made to the McAuley Nazareth Home for Boys, 77 Mulberry St. , Leicester, MA 01524 or to the Jack & Steven Toney Scholarship Fund, c/o Quinsigamond Community College, 670 West Boylston St. , Worcester, MA 01606.
