AUBURN - Helen (Madden) Flannery, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed suddenly on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the age of 80, after a very brief illness. Born to Leo J. and Maxine (Coffin) Madden in Whitesboro, NY, Helen met her husband, Bill “Red” Flannery, while attending Becker Junior College in Worcester, MA. Together they raised two children, Kevin D. Flannery (Julie) and Christine Flannery Coplan (Dave). In addition to her husband of 56 years, her children, and their spouses, she leaves behind her brother, Robert L. Madden of Lakeland, FL and five grandchildren, Aaron F. Coplan, Thomas H. Flannery, Kyle F. Coplan, Sarah E. Flannery, and Will F. Coplan. She was predeceased by both parents and her brother Col. (ret. ) Charles D. Madden. Helen immensely enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandchildren (and to a lesser degree her children) as well as watching sports, sports, and more sports. While hockey was her favorite, most especially the Bruins and the Frozen Four, Helen and Red attended many tennis matches at the US Open and traveled to 21 MLB ballparks (22 if you count the Expos!). Relatives and friends are invited to join the family from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at All Faiths Cemetery, 9 Island Rd, Worcester. A graveside service will follow at 12:00 pm.
