PAXTON, MA: Herbert J. "Herb" Sterner, 52, of 12 Knollwood Rd. , died Monday, April 18, 2005, in Lahey Clinic Medical Center, Burlington, MA, after a heroic battle with liver disease. He leaves his wife of 21 years, Margaret A. (Harmstead) Sterner; two sons, Jack H. and Evan J. Sterner, both of Paxton; his mother, Connie (Rinker) Sterner of Hanover, PA; his father, Herbert H. Sterner and longtime companion Judith Phillips of Menges Mills, PA; two brothers, Mike and Tim Sterner, both of Menges Mills, PA; two sisters, Victoria Markle of Hanover, PA, Peggy Meckley of East Berlin, PA; two nieces and four nephews. Another brother, Andrew Sterner, predeceased him. Herb was born and raised in Hanover, PA. He and his family have been residents of Paxton since 1995. Herb worked several years as a maintenance technician at Sonoco Packaging in Devens, MA. He enjoyed carpentry, genealogy, history, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. There are no calling hours. After cremation, burial of ashes will be in Pennsylvania at the convenience of the family.
