WORCESTER: James P. Diggins, Jr. , 54, of 12 Jewett Terrace, died Sunday, September 27, 2009 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus, after a brief illness. He leaves his wife of 25 years, Eileen P. (Murphy) Diggins; his son, Patrick M. Diggins of Worcester; his mother, Margaret C. (Bowen) Diggins of Cotuit; two brothers, Timothy W. Diggins and his wife Deborah of Boston, Patrick J. Diggins and his wife Kristen of Holden; two sisters, Mary âMollyâ Diggins and her husband Mark Duggan of Boston, Deirdre Ann Erb and her husband Joseph of Chanhassen, Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. His father, James P. Diggins, died on February 23, 2009. Jim was a partner at Marshall & Diggins Insurance Agency where he worked for 33 years. He graduated from St. Johnâs High School in 1973 and from Nichols College in 1977. He was a very active member of the board at Seven Hills Charter School and a long time member and past president of the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He was honored as Hibernian of the Year in 1995. Jim was a coach and board member of Worcester Youth Soccer. He was also a long time member of the Rotary Club of Worcester and the First Friday Club. He was an active member of St. Johnâs Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the loving caregivers in the Intensive Care Unit at UMass Memorial - University Campus. CALLING HOURS are 5 to 8 P.
