Janice Batcheldor

WORCESTER – Janice A. (Gardella) Batcheldor passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024 in her Worcester home.

Janice was born in Worcester, the daughter of Louis and Mildred (Peterson) Gardella, and was a lifelong resident.

She graduated from St. Peter’s High School.  She then worked for several years as a Secretary at The College of the Holy Cross, before marrying Donald W. Batcheldor in 1959.  Her husband predeceased her in 1985.

Janice will be lovingly missed and remembered by her two children, Donald Batcheldor and his wife, Bety, and Diane Clivio and her husband, Andy, all of Worcester; and her four cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Michael Clivio, and Linda and Donald Batcheldor; her eldest sister, Joan Lorusso; and her sister-in-law, Carole Gardella; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her younger siblings, Paul Gardella and Marlene Rodwill.

Janice was a devout Roman Catholic, married at Sacred Heart Church and becoming a longtime parishioner of Christ the King Church.

Janice was an avid sports fan, following her favorite teams – the Patriots, Giants, Celtics and Red Sox. Above all else, Janice loved to be with her family, whether hosting or attending holiday gatherings, birthday parties, or her grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Janice was a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend.  Her family and friends will miss her dearly.

Family and friends will gather for a Calling Hour from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23rd at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester, with a Mass of Christian Burial following at 11:30 AM at Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester.  Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, 260 Cambridge Street, Worcester. 

Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
