WORCESTER: Joan F. (Roach) LaForte, 71, formerly of Westboro St. , died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at the home of her daughter in Thompson, CT, after a long illness. She leaves four children, Cathy Ledoux of Worcester, Paul M. LaForte of Charlton, Mark LaForte of Biddeford, Maine, Melissa Caissie and her husband Dan of Thompson; a brother, J. Robert Nugent of Worcester; six sisters, Betty Grady, Judy Christian, and Alice Brown, all of Worcester, Mary Bjorndal and Margaret Army, both of Grafton, and Janice Carabba of North Easton; four grandchildren, Michelle Dugan, Stephanie LaForte, Daniel Caissie, and Alex LaForte; a great granddaughter, Rhiannon Dugan; and many nieces and nephews. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Vincent and Margaret (Nugent) Roach, and lived in Worcester all of her life, until moving to Thompson last year. Joan was a clerical worker at the Casual Male distribution facility in Shrewsbury, where she worked for more than 10 years. She enjoyed cooking, arts and crafts, and spending time with her family. Before her illness, she attended St. John's Church in Worcester. There are no calling hours. After cremation, A FUNERAL MASS with Joan's ashes will be held at 10 a. m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple St. , Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. The family suggests donations in memory of Joan be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105, or the Hospice of Northeastern Connecticut, 320 Pomfret St. , Putnam, CT 06260.
