Joan K. Harrington

WORCESTER: Joan K. (Heitin) Harrington, 74, of 770 Salisbury St. , formerly of Shrewsbury, died peacefully on Thursday, July 23, 2009, in her home. She leaves a daughter Barbara A. (Harrington) Cantwell of Shrewsbury; a son, Michael B. Harrington of Montana; a sister, Nancy Perry of Sterling; 4 grandchildren, Josh Firestone, Jamie Cantwell, Samantha Zetler, Sarah Harrington; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves 2 stepsons, Steven and Andrew Jacobson of Charlotte, NC. Her sister, Barbara Ann Heitin, died in the 1953 Worcester Tornado. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Aaron Heitin. She was raised in Shrewsbury, graduated from Shrewsbury High School, and attended Endicott College in Boston. Joan was a beloved member of the James Hogan family where she worked as a fashion consultant for many years. She served as a member of the Board of Directors for Aids Project Worcester. She will be remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother. After cremation, MEMORIAL CALLING HOURS will be held from 1 to 3 P. M. on SUNDAY, AUGUST 2, at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , immediately followed by a MEMORIAL SERVICE in the funeral home at 3 P. M. Burial of ashes will be at the convenience of the family.
