WORCESTER: John M. âJackâ Donahue, 80, of 178 College St. , formerly of Tatman St. , died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Mary T. (Gully) Donahue; a son, John M. âJackâ Donahue, Jr. and his wife Susan of Worcester; a brother, Robert E. Donahue and his wife Margaret of Worcester; three grandchildren, Daniel, John and Mary; his nieces and nephews, Bob Donahue, Laurie Kuck, Bruce Donahue, Brian Donahue, Kelly Carroll, Maryann Perry, Bill Buchyn, and Maureen Worley, her husband Alex and their children Alex, Jr. and Lauren. A brother, Francis M. Donahue and a sister, Mary A. Buchyn, both predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Michael F. and Mary A. (Cahill) Donahue and attended Lamartine Street School and Commerce High School. Jack worked at Wyman-Gordon Company for 43 years until he retired in 1995. He was a proud life-time member of Steelworkers Local #2285 having served for many years as Shop Steward and Grievance Representative. He was also a life-long member of St. Johnâs Church and faithfully attended the annual St. Francis Xavier Novena. He was a great fan of the Lake Ave. Summer Baseball League and the Worcester GAA Hurling Club. Debating politics and the union movement was also a life-long passion. The family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to Dr. Platt, Dr. Kumar, Dr. Franco, Massachusetts Eye and Ear, the UMass Cancer Center and the Nursing Staff at St. Vincent Hospital for their compassionate, excellent care. CALLING HOURS will be from 4 to 7 P. M. on SUNDAY, APRIL 6 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 A. M. on MONDAY, APRIL 7 at ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple St. Burial will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
