WORCESTER, MA - John (Jack) Phillip Perry, 88 of Worcester passed on Sunday November 12th at St. Vincent Hospital after a long battle with heart and lung issues.
He was born February 19, 1935 in Auburn, MA to Mary Gladys (Roberts) and Joseph Henry Perry. He grew up in Auburn, graduated from Auburn High and spent several years in the Marine Corps in South Carolina before returning to Worcester for the next 66 years to marry and raise a family. He worked as a manager at Gibbons Package Store and then as a salesman at Atlas Distributing for many years before he retired. He especially loved his Dunkin coffee, Boston Globe, playing the lottery and his walks around Webster Square with Mulligan.
Jack leaves behind his wife of 63 years Claire M. (Lynch) Perry and four children, Michele M Perry-Boucher and her husband Joe of Annapolis, MD, Daniel J Perry and his wife Beth of Scarborough, ME, Mary-Kate Perry of Worcester, and William L Perry and his wife Allison of Cromwell, CT. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, Katie Perry of Portland, ME, Cameron Boucher of Brooklyn, NY, Maura Perry of Portland, ME, Abby Perry of Wakefield, RI, Courtney Boucher of Annapolis, MD, Hannah Perry of Manchester, CT, and Rachel Perry of Keene,NH .
He is also survived by his siblings Jeanne E. Ablondi of Eastham and James Ronald Perry and his wife Maria of Millbury as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Jack is predeceased by his brothers Edward (Eddie) and Robert (Bob) and brothers-in-law Robert Ablondi and William Lynch.
Burial services will be private. A celebration of life will be held in the spring. Jack adored all the dogs in the neighborhood and was known to always have a treat at the door ready for them on their daily walks. In lieu of flowers, please give your dog or a neighborhood dog an extra treat in Jack’s memory.
