WORCESTER: Joseph F. LaMalva, 79, of Worcester, died Friday, June 9, 2006, in his home. He leaves his wife of 28 years, Margaret A. "Peg" (Ryan) LaMalva; his first wife of 26 years, Gertrude M. "Tuey" (Belair) LaMalva, died in 1975. He also leaves two sons, Joseph LaMalva and his wife Linda of Tolland, Ct. , Jeffrey LaMalva and his wife Melissa of Ellington, Ct. ; three daughters, Joanne Charette and her husband Francis of Rutland, Judith O'Connor and her husband James of Ellington, Ct. , Janice L. Pacenka and her husband James of Sutton; two brothers, Pat LaMalva of Conyers, Ga. and Francis P. LaMalva of Worcester; 12 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. His sister, Angela Schiavone and a brother, John LaMalva, both predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Frank and Corinne (Moreschi) LaMalva. He graduated from North High School, earned a bachelor's degree at Wentworth Institute, and was a Navy Veteran of World War II. Joe was an accomplished architect and worked for the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, until retiring in 1971. He previously worked for the Worcester Housing Authority. After his retirement, he also worked for Freedom Federal Savings. He was also responsible for the design of many homes throughout Central Massachusetts. After surviving a major stroke in 1971, Joe exceeded all the conventional expectations of his physicians and with remarkable determination, continued to excel at his chosen profession. He was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and had also been a scoutmaster at Nazareth Home for Boys in Leicester. CALLING HOURS will be held from 6 to 9 p. m. on Tuesday, June 13, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 10 a. m. on Wednesday, June 14, in OUR LADY OF THE ROSARY CHURCH, 25 Fales St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
