Joshua Lee Sawyer

January 13, 1985 - December 24, 2024

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Joshua Lee Sawyer, 39 yrs old. He was a devoted and loving father, son, and partner who left this world suddenly on December 24, 2024.  Josh was deeply loved by his family and he will live on in our hearts, minds, and souls forever.  He is preceded in death by his grandfather Marvin Lee Sawyer and his uncle Marvin Lee Sawyer, Jr of Elizabeth City, NC. He was born in Anchorage, AK and had lived in Worcester, MA since 1994.

He was a 2003 graduate of Sutton High School.  After graduation he discovered his passion and talent for carpentry and worked in construction for the past 15 years. A highly skilled carpenter, he took great pride in his work, never settling for anything less than perfection.

A rare and unique individual with a brilliant mind and quick wit, he was also known for his big, kind heart, always helping others any time he could. He was a self proclaimed hermit but genuinely loved people and would make conversation with random people everywhere he went, usually making them laugh with his sarcastic humor. His love for creating was also shown in the kitchen and he thoroughly enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He had a deep and profound connection with his mother and made special time with her, cooking, eating together, discussing the latest politics, or working on puzzles.

He shared an amazing bond with his beloved daughter Juliana and treasured their time together, whether it be boating, fishing, playing games, doing crafts, or just watching movies. She was his pride and joy, the light of his life and he considered her his greatest accomplishment. His Alaska roots gave him his love for the great outdoors-hunting, fishing, boating, or just being in nature. One of his most prized possessions was his boat and he was always at peace on the water. Watching Juliana on the bow of his boat, smiling from ear to ear, gave him so much joy.  Taking his Mom and daughter up the lake for ice cream and going on night time boat rides with his best friend, his “love” Mary, to watch the stars together, was some of his favorite times.

He is survived by his loving mother, Jean Sawyer, his precious daughter Juliana Sawyer, and his adoring partner, Mary Kuemmeth, all from Massachusetts; his beautiful grandmother Sara Sawyer of NC; his aunts Sandra Bald (Frank) of NC, Gail Ellis(Tom) of SC, and Uncle Gary “Buddy” Sawyer (Marcheta) of NC; his great aunts Nellie Mae Davis and Ann Cullens(Irvin) of NC, and many other extended family members in North and South Carolina.

No services are being held at this time.
