WORCESTER: Joyce Osa (Carlstrom) Hyland, 66, of 41 Midland St. , formerly of Shrewsbury, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, in her home, after a long, courageous fight with cancer. She leaves her companion of many years and best friend, Walter P. Niewiera, Jr. ; a daughter, Melissa J. Hyland of Shrewsbury; a son, Justin D. Hyland of Worcester; a brother, Thomas Wentzell of Roswell, New Mexico; 3 grandchildren, Tyler, Sierra and Autumn; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her beloved cats, Tinkerbelle and Alex. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Francis and Evelyn (Maynard) Carlstrom. She graduated from Shrewsbury High School and lived in this area all of her life. Her former husband, Bernard F. Hyland, predeceased her. Joyce worked several years as a counter clerk for Nicky D's Donut and Coffee Shop at Julio's Plaza in Northboro. She was an animal lover and an avid reader.
