WORCESTER: Judith E. Brown Cahill, 53, died Saturday, August 10, 2013 at UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus, after a long illness. She leaves her husband of 22 years, Joseph M. âMikeâ Cahill and her daughter, Bobbi-Su Cahill both of Worcester; her mother, Gretchen E. (Erb) Bradley of Richmond, VA; two brothers, Michael Brown and his wife Judy of Glastonbury, CT, William Brown of Richmond; her sister, Jennifer Thoms and her husband Bob of Richmond; eight nieces and nephews, Christopher, Kelli, Rachel, Joshua, Gillian, Camryn, Ashlee and Kaylee. She was born in Richmond, VA, daughter of the late William Angus Brown and was a graduate of University of Virginia. She later earned her Masters Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. Judy was a tireless advocate for homeless women, children and those recovering from substance abuse or mental health issues. She worked in a variety of area programs at Friendly House, SMOC, Faith House, Sigourney Street and Community Healthlink. She was a founding member of the Committee on Homelessness in Worcester which led to the establishment of the Central Massachusetts Housing Alliance, where she served as Board Clerk for many years. The City Managerâs Commission on the Status of Women honored Judy with the âWomen of Consequence Awardâ and the CMHA âJanice Nadeau Housing and Community Services Awardâ. She was very active in All Saints Church as a member of the Vestry, the Planning Committee, the Childrenâs Spiritual Life Committee, the Healing Prayer Ministry and served as a Lay Pastor visiting parishioners in need. She was instrumental in the formation and continuity of Fun-Fab Fridays to benefit youth in the Piedmont Neighborhood. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and walks around Tower Hill. She will be missed for her unwavering commitment to helping others, her spark, strength, intelligence and sense of humor. A MEMORIAL CEREMONY in CELEBRATION of Judyâs life will be held at 3 P. M. on SUNDAY, AUGUST 18 at ALL SAINTS CHURCH, 10 Irving St. After cremation, burial will be at the convenience of the family.
