SHREWSBURY - Kathleen Richter, 76, of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, passed away on September 15, 2022 after a brief illness. Kathleen was born to the late Francis O’Connell and Margaret (Daly) O’Connell in Worcester and grew up in Auburn, Massachusetts. She graduated from Auburn High School in 1964 and Quinsigamond Community College in 1968 with a degree in accounting. Kathleen and her husband, David, wed in 1967 and recently celebrated their 55th anniversary on September 2nd. She and David raised their three children in Worcester and San Jose, California. Kathleen spent many years volunteering her time at various soup kitchens, in the Shrewsbury Town Hall Senior Center, and at the Worcester Dialysis Center. One of her favorite memories was shaking John F. Kennedy’s hand as a teenager. Kathleen enjoyed playing guitar, looking after her grandson, Timmy, and spending time with her friends, Kathy and Mary Jane. She was a devout Catholic and spent many days attending Mass at Saint Ann’s Church in Shrewsbury. Kathleen will be remembered as a generous person with a big heart. Kathleen is predeceased by both her parents; her brothers: Richard and Dennis; and her sisters: Eileen, Marguerite, and Alice. She is survived by her beloved husband, David; her three children: Daniel, Erin (Rob), and Joseph (Samantha); her grandson, Timothy; and her nieces: Mary and Darlene. Services will be held on Tuesday, September 27th at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 630 Cross Street, Boylston, MA. Calling hours will be from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM at the church, followed by a Funeral Mass at 12:00 PM. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at St. Roch Cemetery, 25 Federal Hill Rd. , Oxford, MA In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Kathleen’s memory to: SS Francis & Thérèse Catholic Worker, 52 Mason St. , Worcester, MA 01610
