WORCESTER: Mae H. (Chambers) Burroughs, 78, was called home on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at St. Vincent Hospital, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her sister Priscilla Chambers Stanley; 4 children, Anthony Burroughs, Johanna Hampton Wallace and her husband Ronald, Steven Burroughs and his wife Sheila, Michael Burroughs, all of Worcester; 7 Grandchildren, 10 Great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Malden, MA on a Nipmuc reservation in 1936, daughter the late Ernest and Eleanore (Walley) Chambers and lived in Boston before moving here in 1979. A brother Ernest Chambers of Malden, and 5 sisters, Eleanor Sampson of Boston, Vivian Crayton of Worcester, Stella Ashmore of Worcester, Bernice Kelley of Worcester and Ernestine Smith of Malden, all predeceased her. Mae graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Malden. She dedicated the majority of her life to working hard as a foster parent and caring for her children. She worked many years with the Worcester Housing Authority and Bigelow Waste Company. She enjoyed playing bingo in her spare time. CALLING HOURS will be from 11 A. M. to 12:15 P. M. on WEDNESDAY, May 28 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , followed by a FUNERAL MASSS at 1 P. M. in OUR LADY OF THE ANGELS CHURCH, 1222 Main St. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery.
