Margaret C. Wells, 83, born on August 14, 1939, passed away unexpectedly at theHighlands Nursing Home, Fitchburg, MA on August 13, 2023, after a long battle withdementia.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of Eleanor L. (Houlihan) Amsden and Edward A. Amsden of West Boylston. Margaret grew up & graduated from West Boylston High School, and graduated college from Clark University with a bachelor’s degree in education.
She worked in the Worcester School System throughout her adult life until she retired. She lived in Auburn for over 35 years with her husband, Darrell. She was also involved in the Civil Air Patrol along with her husband and his two sons.They enjoyed selling items at the Rietta Flea Market in Hubbardston, MA as a side hobby. She loved traveling abroad & has been on several cruises throughout her life. She also loved classical music, gardening and spending time at home in her spare time. She loved all animals. She had a pet dog, “Gizmo” that she adored, which was a great companion throughout her years with dementia. Her closest friends mostly knew her as “Carole”.
She touched so many lives and was loved by all who knew her; she was such a kind & compassionate person with a heart of gold. She will be greatly missed and will live in our hearts forever.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Caron of Lunenburg, her brother, James Amsden of Worcester, three nieces, Lisa Caron, Valerie & Pamela Amsden, two nephews, Cameron & Michael Amsden, one niece, Madison Caron, and two step-sons, Danny & James Wells. Her parents predeceased her along with her husband Darrell, and a sister, Barbara Landry.
A private memorial service will be held prior to the interment of her ashes at the Mount Vernon Cemetery on Church St. in West Boylston. Family will be notified of the date and time once arrangements are finalized.
