WORCESTER: Marion M. (Holmes) Vantre Doyle, 86, of Ashton St. , formerly of St. Nicholas Ave. , died Saturday, December 29, 2007, at UMass Memorial Medical Center - University Campus. Her husband of 38 years, John R. Doyle, died in 2002. Her first husband, U. S. Army Master Sergeant Thomas A. Vantre, was killed in action in September of 1950, while serving in the Korean War. She leaves two sons, Thomas R. Vantre, Jr. of North Brookfield, Stephen G. Vantre and his wife Maura of Worcester; five grandchildren, Thomas R. Vantre, III and his wife Beverly, Kristin Cook and her husband Justin, Stephen G. Vantre, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth, David A. Vantre and his wife Suzanne, and Kelley K. Vantre; three great grandchildren, Thomas R. Vantre, IV, Serina Ratoff, and Erin Vantre. Two sisters, Agnes M. Holmes, Helene M. Holmes, and a granddaughter, Kimberley Vantre, all predeceased her. She was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Norval and Malvina (Lucier) Holmes, graduated from North High School in 1939, and lived here most of her life. Marion was a clerk for the U. S. Postal Service in Worcester, where she worked for 10 years. She was a member and past president of the Harlow Street School PTA, a member and past president of the Gold Star Wives, and a member of the Britain Square American Legion Auxiliary. She was a former member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and had also been a member of St. Bernard's Church. CALLING HOURS will be from 6 to 8 p. m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 a. m. on Thursday, Jan. 3, in ST. BERNARD'S CHURCH, 228 Lincoln St. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton, MA.
