Marta Montero

WORCESTER - Ms. Marta Montero, 89, of Worcester, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 in UMass Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Marta was born in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, and lived most of her life in Manhattan, NY. She moved to Worcester after Hurricane Maria in 2017 where she spent the last years of her amazing life.

Marta was a very energetic, strong and independent lady who loved to dance and travel, but the most important thing for her was spending time around her big family and friends. Marta had 5 children, predeceased by Joaquin Oliveras. Survivors included her sons, Jose Torres, Carmelo Torres and Miguel Vargas, and a daughter, Lillian Torres. Marta is also survived by 2 brothers and many grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Marta’s family from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Thursday, November 2, at the Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St., Worcester.

Funeral services in New York will be held at Manhattan Funeral Service, 2242 1st Ave., New York, NY. Burial will take place on November 6th at St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx, NY.
