Mary A. Garvey

WORCESTER: Mary A. (O'Connor) Garvey, 92, formerly of Acushnet Ave. , died peacefully on Sunday, December 18, 2005, in Radius Healthcare Center at Worcester. Her husband of 55 years, Arthur J. Garvey, Jr. , died in 1996. She leaves two sons, William P. Garvey of Worcester, Arthur J. Garvey, III of Wellesley; three sisters, Rita Cawley of Holden, Eileen O'Day and Gertrude O'Connor, both of Worcester; three grandchildren, Kerry Garvey Ray of Sudbury, Michael J. Garvey of Atlanta Ga. , William P. Garvey, II of Worcester; and many nieces and nephews. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Timothy J. and Margaret A. (O'Brien) O'Connor. She was a graduate of North High School and Fitchburg State College. Mary worked as an elementary school teacher in Shrewsbury for many years, until retiring in 1979. She was previously a part time teacher in Worcester Public Schools. She had been a member of St. Joan of Arc Church and a former active member of St. Stephen's Church. A CALLING HOUR will be held from 9:15 to 10:15 a. m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21, in KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. , followed by a FUNERAL MASS at 11 a. m. in ST.
