On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Michael Charles Botticelli passed away at the age of 63 after an eighteen month battle against cancer. Michael leaves his son, Chase (Charles Robert) Botticelli, daughter Marissa Botticelli-Smith and her husband, Spencer Botticelli-Smith. He was beloved by many, including Kerry (Wilcox) Botticelli, his sister Maryann Botticelli, his skating partner Sheryl Franks and his siblings Carolynn, William and Sandra, as well as many nieces and nephews. Michael was predeceased by his beloved sister, Andrea Botticelli, father, Dr. Charles Botticelli and mother, Georgine Gill. Michael was an accomplished pairs figure skater. He and Sheryl traveled the world competing in national and international competitions, including the 1980 Olympics, and skating in Disney on Ice. But what he would consider his greatest accomplishment in skating would be his coaching career. Aside from his family, his students were the most important thing in Michael's life. He celebrated their accomplishments far more than his own and treasured every bond that he built with his students, with some friendships lasting long past their figure skating or hockey careers. Michael prided himself on always being there for the people he loved, and always lending a hand to a friend in need. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the Spring.
