Michael Diaz

February 3, 1963 — January 7, 2025

ACTON - Michael C. Diaz, 61, currently of Acton, MA but always a Brooklyn boy through and through, passed away unexpectedly on January 7, 2025.

Michael wore many hats, literally and figuratively, throughout his life. Proud of being a Union brother, he served for many years as a carpenter for NYC Local 2287, along with his own brother Matthew, who tragically died while working in the World Trade Center on 9/11. It was fate when Michael met his loving partner Carol on 9/11, one year after losing his baby brother Matty. But nothing ever brought him as much joy as welcoming his baby girl Mattie Karen into the world. He was a loving and entertaining father, wanting nothing more than his angel to always be happy and laughing.

Prior to working for the Union, Michael ran his own carpentry business, served as a movie/TV actor, script writer, and band manager, trained as a chef, was a licensed helicopter pilot, and was a cross-country road-tripper. Most recently, he was a songwriter, spending his time drafting dozens of song lyrics. He loved cooking for his family during the holidays. He was also a devoted sports fan, always following the NFL and college football standings, the New York Yankees, boxing, and the UFC. He always looked forward to celebrating his birthday during Super Bowl Sunday.

Michael was predeceased by his parents Anthony and Carmen, his brother Matthew and wife Karen, his brother Chris, his nephew Michael, and many other close friends and family. He is survived by his daughter Mattie Karen, his soulmate Carol Raemsch, his cat Maui, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in New York City, Michael’s true home. Donations in his memory can be made in his name to the VOICES Center for Resilience (voicescenter.org).
