SCHENECTADY, NY - Michelle D. (Methot) Reidy, 76, formerly of Worcester, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 21, 2023, after a long progressive illness, while residing at the Glendale Home memory care unit in Scotia, NY.
Michelle was born on December 22, 1946 in Worcester, MA to Florence (Rene) Methot and Emile Vigneault.
She was proud of her French heritage attending French grammar schools in Worcester and Millbury, MA. She graduated from Millbury Memorial High School and Worcester State College where she excelled in athletics and fitness events at both institutions, in addition to participating in school chorus groups.
Following graduation she taught elementary school in Worcester, Flint, MI, and Waterbury, VT, before retiring to focus on her family. She continued to pursue her interest in sport and music through participating in many community and church choirs, running, yoga, golf and becoming a certified scuba diver. She was also a passionate gardener throughout her life and loved nature and being outdoors.
Michelle is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dr. Robert J. Reidy, Jr. of North Greenbush, NY; her son, Christopher R. (Molly) Reidy of Orono, ME.; her daughter, Danielle M. Reidy of Worcester and her granddaughter, Samara D. Reidy of Orono. As well as her brother-in-law Dr. Ronald W. (Mary) Reidy of Hopkinton, MA.
She leaves three sisters and their husbands: Camille J. (Methot) Perry and Walter E. Perry, Jr. of Paxton, MA; Adrienne R. Methot and Lawrence M. Turner of Holden, MA; Celeste G. Methot and Ronald Wolanin of Oakham, MA; three brothers, Marc A. (Karen) Methot of Leicester, MA; John F. Methot of Hyannis, MA, and Matthieu L. Methot of Worcester, MA. And many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her mother, Florence J (Rene) Methot who died in 2000; father, John P. Methot who died in 1980; and her biological father, Emile Vigneault, who died in 1947.
The Reidy Family would like to thank The Mohawk Trail memory care team at the Glendale Home, Scotia, NY. and Dr. Earl Zimmerman, Nancy Cummings, MSW and Melissa Blok, MSW of Albany Medical Center for their care and support.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Friday, January 19th, at Kelly Cremation & Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln St, Worcester, MA, followed by a memorial service at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester.
