Millard Hartman Cundiff Jr., 88, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2025 at Emerson Hospital, Concord, MA.
He was born March 7, 1937 in Oakland, CA to Millard Hartman Cundiff Sr. and Catherine Woodrow (Crumm) Cundiff. In 1944, his family moved back to Missouri where Millard Sr.’s family farmed. Millard graduated from Lamar High School in Lamar, MO in 1955, where he met the love of his life, Karen Sue Bartlett. They married at Oakton Methodist Church on June 22, 1957.
Millard was drafted into the Army in 1960, completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri and finishing his service at Fort Baker in California. After his military service was complete, he and Karen resided in Sacramento while he attended Sacramento City College on the GI Bill, receiving an Associate of Arts degree in Business.
In 1968, he and Karen moved to Springfield, MO where they started their family and where Millard spent 13 years as foundry supervisor for Reyco Industries. In 1981, the family moved to Hermann, MO where he spent the rest of his career as General Manager of House of Metal Enclosures Inc. His retirement resulted in a move to Stafford, MO to be close to where he and Karen grew up. A final move was made in 2020 to Hudson, MA, so they could be near their daughter for their remaining years.
Millard is survived by his wife of 67 years, Karen Cundiff; his daughter, Jessica Cundiff and her partner, Erich Dieffenbach; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family plans to return Millard’s ashes to Oakton Cemetery where his family is buried.
