Norma Johanson

Norma Irene Johanson, 94, of Rutland, MA, passed away January 8, 2024, at home surroundedby her loved ones. She was born in Worcester, MA to William and Eva Corkum on September 4,1929, and spent much of her life in Rutland.During her life, Norma meant so much to so many people. She was a mother, grandmother, andgreat grandmother, but also a compassionate friend and active member of her community inRutland. She had a zest for life and loved going out to eat, going for rides in the countryside,and went everywhere with her daughter, Marilyn, and granddaughter, Jessica. She loved talkingabout her travels in life, trips to the Cape with family and a once in a lifetime trip to Africa andEgypt. In her later years, she loved simply being quiet at her kitchen table, doing word searchand watching the birds and wildlife just outside her window.Norma was predeceased by her husband, Ralph Johanson, who passed in 1993. She is survivedby her brother, Billy Corkum, and five children, Linda Whitman, Dianne Wilson, MarilynJohanson, Jean Smith, and Daniel Johanson. She leaves behind five grandchildren Eva Frentz,Jim and David Wilson, Michael Carlson, and one that she considered a daughter of her veryown, Jessica Prlja. In addition to her grandchildren, she is also survived by her greatgrandchildren, Jenna Wilson, Matthew and Kylie Wilson, and Harris Prlja. She will also beremembered by lifelong friend, Ruth Medlinskas. She was so very loved by all and will bemissed beyond measure.There will be no services, per Norma’s wishes. A celebration of life will be at a later date. All thekind words, thoughts, and prayers our family has received during this time have been so appreciated.
