WORCESTER: Norman N. Robert, 88, a lifetime resident of Worcester, died peacefully on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Radius Healthcare Center, 119 Providence St. , after a long struggle with Alzheimerâs disease. He leaves his wife of nearly 54 years, Marie H. (Stidsen) Robert; a son, James R. Robert and his wife Lorra of Gulf Breeze, FL; a daughter, Karen E. Robert and her husband Jeffrey Davis of Putnam, CT; his cherished grandchildren, Nicholas M. Brindisi and Ericka N. Brindisi, both of Worcester; a sister, Jeannette LaPrad of Auburn; and several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Patricia M. Brindisi and a sister, Germaine Bachand, both predeceased him. He was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Richard R. and Aurore L. (Allaire) Robert. He was an Army Air Corps Veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Theatre where he participated in the Battle of Leyte. Norman was a watchmaker for nearly 70 years, retiring at the age of 85 due to his illness. He was owner and operator of Norman Robert Watch Repair on Lincoln St. for 50 years and always enjoyed talking with his customers. An accomplished photographer and sportsman, he also taught fly tying and casting as a member of the United Fly Tyers Association. He was also a lifetime member of the Rutland Sportsmanâs Club. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Radius Healthcare on Providence St. and Summit Elder Care on East Mountain St. for their loving care during Normanâs illness.
