WORCESTER: Peter I. Gabor, 74, died peacefully at home on Saturday, June 13, 2020, after a long illness. He leaves his wife of 52 years, Joan S. (Chapalonis) Gabor; a son, David P. Gabor and his fiancee Siobhan Allen; a daughter, Ann Gabor and her partner David Jackson and their daughter Alyxandria, all of Worcester; a brother, Donald Gabor and his wife Louise of Pawtucket, RI. ; a sister, Kathleen Bocsi of Worcester; a niece Meredith Gabor; 3 nephews, Evan Gabor, Sandor Bocsi, Steven Bocsi; and a great niece, Charlie Bocsi. He was born in Budapest, Hungary, son of the late Steven and Anna (Tary) Gabor. He moved to the United States at the age of 10 and lived in Webster before moving to Worcester in 1967. He graduated from Bartlett High School and was a United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War having been awarded 3 Bronze Stars while serving two tours of duty with the Seabees. Peter worked as a Special Police Officer at St. Vincent Hospital for 29 years until he retired in 2003. He previously owned and operated Gaborâs Cake Shop in Tatnuck Square for several years. After retiring he worked as a jeweler at Vincent Jewelers. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, the Knights of Columbus, and the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed wood working, remodeling and was an avid car enthusiast. He will be remembered for his generous nature, being the life of the party, and the love of his little princess, Alyx. Due to the current pandemic, entrance to the funeral home will require wearing a mask and social distancing restrictions. CALLING HOURS will be from 6 to 8 P. M. on TUESDAY, JUNE 16 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln Street. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A. M. on WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17 at OUR LADY OF CZESTOCHOWA CHURCH, 34 Ward St. , followed by burial at Notre Dame Cemetery.
