Ralph T. Vescera, 92, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Rose Monahan in Worcester with family by his side. He was born in Worcester to Celestino and Celestina Vescera. As a young man, he attended Boy’s Trade school where he received a degree in Welding and played football on several teams. The next step in his life would be to join the Army where he served his country in the Korean War and earned the rank of Corporal during his time in the military. After serving his tour in the military, Ralph went on to marry his wife, Gloria and worked as a welder before joining the Worcester Fire Department. After 32 years, he retired as Lieutenant. During his life, he owned many businesses and worked on many political campaigns. As an avid coin collector, he could never turn down a good flea market but he enjoyed spending time with his family relaxing on his front porch even more. He leaves behind eight children, Anne-Marie Sheehan of Worcester, Ralph T. “Rusty” Vescera Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Worcester, John M. “Jack” Vescera of Worcester, Stephen J. Vescera and his wife Debra of Holden, David F. Vescera and his wife Patricia of Cherry Valley, Kevin P. Vescera and Tracy of Thompson, CT, Joseph M. Vescera and his wife Tammy of Nokomis, FL, and Kathryn J. “Katie” Vescera Quinn of Millbury; 19 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Gloria, Ralph is also preceded in passing by his grandson, John M. Vescera Jr. of Worcester and his son-in-law, George “Bucky” Sheehan of Worcester. The family welcomes all to calling hours from 5-7pm on Monday, February 20, 2023 at Kelly Cremation and Funeral Care, 154 Lincoln Street, Worcester. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish, 228 Lincoln St, Worcester followed by burial at St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester.
